Lisa is the Principal of Hayden Tate and Honorary Legal Counsel for the Home Owners and Buyers Association of New Zealand (HOBANZ).
Lisa was admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand in 2001 and spent her junior and intermediate years practising litigation in two of Auckland’s largest law firms. She has extensive civil litigation experience having conducted matters from Tribunal to Court of Appeal level and continues to act as advocate for clients across a range of civil litigation matters.
More recently, Lisa has also focussed her attention on developing a property conveyancing, commercial law and estate planning practice.
Lisa has developed a reputation as a skilled advocate who takes a pragmatic approach to solving her client’s legal problems. |

As a Practice Manager, Deb has responsibility for general day to day management of the practice including accounting, HR, IT and marketing. Deb’s responsibility extends into guiding the firm through change, growth and development.
Hayden Tate Limited employed Deb in 2009. She commenced her career in the legal industry in 2003 with Phoenix Legal in Sydney. Deb has recently returned to the workforce after taking 3 years off to raise her daughter Lily.

Sarah is a UK-trained Barrister (Inns of Court School of Law, London) and Mediator (Royal College of Psychology, London) with 8 years experience in litigation.
Originally from Belfast, Sarah took a first in Law at Cambridge University, England and qualified as a Barrister with a scholarship from Gray’s Inn. Sarah moved from London to Bristol and began her career at the Criminal Bar, undertaking both prosecution and Defence.
She then specialised in Personal Injury law where she represented Claimants and Defendants. Sarah has conducted hundreds of trials and countless interlocutory hearings representing clients at every tier of the UK judicial system up to the Court of Appeal, the Coroner’s Court and tribunals such as the Criminal Injuries Compensation Board.
She became a founding partner of a now thriving Chambers, “Unity Street Chambers” in Bristol, UK. Sarah developed a reputation for succinct and persuasive submissions and an ability to explain complicated legal issues to clients from all backgrounds.
Sarah married and immigrated to New Zealand in 2006. Sarah enjoys touch rugby, soccer and running.

Richard attended the University of Auckland and studied at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver in the first half of 2005, as part of Auckland Unversity’s student exchange program. Whilst at University, Richard worked as a volunteer for the Public Defence Service in Manukau and as a law clerk at a small law firm in the central city. Richard completed his law degree in 2006 and was awarded the Auckland University Senior Prize in Law.
After University, Richard worked as a barrister’s clerk and then as a junior barrister after being admitted to the bar in September 2007. His focus as a junior barrister was civil litigation in the High Court, District Court and the Weathertight Homes Tribunal. He has appeared in the High Court and the Tribunal, both un-led and as junior counsel. Richard began working with Lisa Gerrard in September 2008 and continues to be involved in a wide range of civil litigation at Hayden Tate.
Richard is a keen diver and sportsman. |
